Our last outing of the year was a Riverboat trip from Waldringfield to Felixstowe on a beautiful sunny day in early October. Fifteen members enjoyed cruising along the calm Deben listening to the commentary about the surrounding sights and enjoying a cup of tea with scones and jam.

As it was the AGM, our November meeting opened with the singing of ‘Jerusalem’ after which Ann welcomed our speaker, Penny Simmonds. She is a professional reflexologist, who not only gave us a fascinating insight into her field and work but also taught us how to relieve stress in the neck, shoulders and spine.
At our Christmas party we were entertained by the local ukulele band and enjoyed a festive tea of sausage rolls, mince pies and mulled wine.
Our first meeting of 2023 was a jolly affair. We were visited by Robin and Sue Franklin, who gave us “An Entertainment in Verse”. Robin is an artist, designer, playwright and poet and Sue is an actress, singer and dancer. Between them they narrated ten or more of Robin’s humorous if not comic poems with panache, elan and style which had us all chuckling. They elaborated some of the stories with props of wigs and feather boas and one, called “The chocolate junkie”, made use of photos of chocolate bars. The theme here was to incorporate into the poem as many puns as possible that could be made of the names of common chocolate brands.
The afternoon ended traditionally with a lovely tea and raffle and awarding the prize to the competition winner Barbara. Well done.
